ames Graber is a
freelance musician living in Houston, Texas. From 1993-2000 he was a member of the Arizona
Opera, performing dozens of operas, most notably Wagner's complete Ring cycle in
the summers of 1996 and 1998. He has also performed with the Orchestra of Santa Fe,
Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, Phoenix Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, Sarasota Music
Festival, Grand Tetons Music Festival and Ernst Bloch Festival, among others. In 1989 he
made a 14-country European tour as a member of the American Wind Symphony and in 1999 a
two week tour of Japan with The Golden Horn. As a founding member of Palo Verde Brass, the
group took 1st place at the 1993 Yamaha International Brass Ensemble Competition, and
additionally won prizes at the 1993 and 1994 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
Mr. Graber has recorded for the Summit and Koch record labels, and with Thomas Bacon
performs as The
Golden Horn. He is featured on Voices from Spoon River (Summit Records
DCD-234), and also performed on Dragons in the Sky
(Summit Records DCD-135) and Discovery
(Summit Records DCD-457). In his other life, James is a registered nurse working in the
world renowned Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
